Welcome to Sun Leaf Counseling! 🌞🌿

Sun Leaf Counseling is officially one year old! Over the past year, we’ve had the honor of holding space for stories, growth, and healing. What began as a vision rooted in presence and care has blossomed into a meaningful community—thank you for being part of it.

As we step into year two, our commitment remains the same: to walk alongside you with heart and intention. This newsletter will continue to offer ways to pause, reconnect, and engage—with yourself, with others, and with the season you’re in.

From my heart to yours, thank you for being part of this growing community.

Grounding Exercises for Children and Families

Bubble Breathing

Join this calming breathing exercise using bubbles. Inhale gently through your nose for a count of 4, then exhale slowly through your mouth for a count of 4 as you blow bubbles. Repeat this soothing cycle to relax your body and mind. 🫧🌬️💙

Hoberman Sphere

Follow along with this calming breathing technique demonstrated by using a Hoberman sphere or expanding toy. As the sphere expands, breathe in slowly for a count of 4. Hold your breath for 2 counts. As the sphere contracts, exhale for 4 counts, then hold again for 2 counts. Repeat this cycle three times to help reduce stress and refocus your mind.

Caregiver Connection Activities

Community Kindness: Advocacy For All Ages

  • July 30 is the International Day of Friendship, which encourages building bridges between communities and provides an opportunity to talk to kids about fairness, inclusion, and standing up for others.

  • Try reading a book like "Say Something" by Peter H. Reynolds, which encourages children to use their voice to help others. Read aloud together as a family and ask, “What’s something we can do as a family to show kindness or speak up when something is not fair?”
