Founder and Joyful Leader of Sun Leaf Counseling

Delaney Allison (she/her) is the joyful founder and leader of Sun Leaf Counseling in Mansfield, TX. With over a decade of professional experience in education and mental health, she is committed to providing compassionate and empowering counseling services in person and virtually. Delaney holds a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Texas, where she graduated magna cum laude. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the states of Texas and Oklahoma, a National Certified Counselor, and a Registered Play Therapist™—credentials exclusively issued by the Association for Play Therapy.

As a former public school educator, Delaney is passionate about partnering with schools and educators to create a community of support for families and their children. It’s completely normal for parents and caregivers to need support - every family goes through it. Delaney's goal is to teach parents and caregivers therapeutic strategies to support and strengthen family bonds. Delaney specializes in working with families and children facing challenges such as anxiety, depression, social skills development, and self-esteem issues, as well as attachment difficulties, life transitions, adoption, divorce, grief, and neurodivergence. Delaney ensures that every client, regardless of background, receives the support they need in a non-discriminatory, respectful, and empowering environment. Her counseling approach is grounded in an Adlerian therapy framework, a holistic approach emphasizing healthy relationship development and community support for lasting healing and growth.

Delaney serves as a board member of the non-profit organization Black Boys Meditate, which aims to empower underserved communities through mindfulness. She also serves the Midlothian community, as she utilizes Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT) and Equine Assisted Counseling (EAC) at Paws for Reflection Ranch, a nonprofit organization. Additionally, Delaney offers Telehealth sessions for pre-teens, teens, adults, and families in Oklahoma. Outside of her professional work, Delaney enjoys spending time in nature with her family and rescue pets. At Sun Leaf Counseling, her mission is to challenge inequality and promote equitable access to mental health services and to create safe, inclusive, and nurturing spaces where individuals from all walks of life can connect with their authentic selves, fostering lifelong healing and growth.
